FAQs

  • At Sunrise Med, we offer treatment with CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), supportive therapy, and medications when indicated. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an evidence based type of talk therapy that examines how our maladaptive thinking and behavior patterns contribute to your mental and physical health symptoms. In CBT sessions, you will work with a therapist to help identify these negative patterns, to recognize them as they are happening in the real world, and to develop new skills and coping strategies to challenge these patterns and build healthier responses. CBT is generally a structured, short term treatment approach, with sessions lasting from several weeks to several months, depending on an individual's symptoms and goals. CBT is considered to be the most evidenced-based therapy approach for a wide range of mental health conditions. Just like anything in life, optimizing your mental health involves practice and time. A CBT approach recognizes this, and CBT therapists will often include homework assignments to complete outside of therapy sessions. These assignments may include activity, sleep, or mood tracking, challenging negative thoughts or behaviors, and practicing skills learned during previous sessions. These create adaptive patterns of behavior that promote long term wellness, with skills that you can build on in the future.
